Sending a notice
The quickest route is the report form, which reaches the same person. If you would rather send a formal notice, it should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- What work you say has been infringed.
- The address of the page you say infringes it, specifically enough for us to find it.
- How to reach you — address, telephone, email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
If your page was taken down
You can send a counter-notice from your dashboard. We pass counter-notices to whoever complained, including the contact details on them, and unless they tell us they have gone to court the page goes back up after about ten business days.
A counter-notice needs your signature, the page in question, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court where you live (or, if you are outside the United States, where we are).
Repeat infringement
We keep a record of every notice and what we did about it. An account with 2 upheld notices is suspended; 3 closes it. Notices we reject do not count.
